Just 2km southeast of Kiti, Perilvolia is developing as a resort because of its proximity to the beaches on Cape Kiti, alrnost3km further in the same direction (and also reachable from Meneou -follow signs for "Meneou Beach"). These beaches, to either side of the lighthouse, are mostly scrappy, narrow and, sharply shelving, with large pebbles on a sand base. Nonetheless, self-catering hotel apartments are springing up on the outskirts, ever-burgeoning villas and apartments overlooking the beaches are for sale, and "Flats to Let" signs around in the village.
A restored sixteenth-century Venetian watchtower looms conspicuously on a knoll just over a kilometre north of the modern lighthouse. Dirt tracks converge there from all directions, and it's always in sight -though not espescially compelling once you get there.
